Why Sadhana Mandira?
In life, we constantly look for eternal, permanent, never-ending, everlasting, pure, complete, total, unsullied, uncontaminated and undisturbed Happiness. And the irony is that we are looking for it in an ephemeral, impermanent, never-lasting, flimsy, impure, incomplete, limited, highly contaminated and restless world.

Interestingly, many of us are actually aware and yet, are provoked, ordained, pushed, motivated by our own desires and desperations, temptations and enchantments to enjoy and embrace the petty and paltry pleasures of things and beings. The pre-occupation in this direction is so intense that we fail to understand what it is that we are looking for and heading towards, in the whole journey of our life. Struggling and toiling, fretting and fuming with stress and strain, man reaches the fag end of his life only with a sigh that, ā€œI have lost my life, chasing the so called Happiness.ā€

Is God so unintelligent that he creates intelligent specie that ends life only with sorrow and despair?
Are we not capable of being happy, and also being a source of all happiness?
All other species are always happy and contented, though they exist with an instinct and impulse-based life, unintelligent by nature. Then, what is wrong with this intelligent being called Man? (Woman included) The research in this direction has given way to a very different branch of Knowledge ā€“Atma-Vidya or Self Knowledge, which is not the subject in the curriculum of our schools and colleges. They only deal with the objective world and not the subjective Self.

In this field of enquiry, the ancient Rishis have delved deep into the nature of the human mind that experiences joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain, pleasant and unpleasant situations and so on.

There are only two purposes for all our engagements and occupations in the world: a) Sukha Prapti and b) Duhkha Nivrutti.

The whole life is spent in pursuit of these two purposes. In fact, most of us, if not all, either prepare to become happy or pretend to be happy. Honestly, happiness has become a wild-goose chase. Where is the end?

The only way to attain that permanent happiness is to seek that which is permanent. This world, in which we live right now, is ephemeral. Hence, the Rishis prescribe that the Ultimate Reality is the Paramatma, who alone is the goal of all beings.

Thus, the Shastras have prescribed various ways to reach the pinnacle of human existence through various means, according to the maturity and integrity of the Sadhaka.

While we all are blessed with four personalities, namely, physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual, the first three are well known and the last is less understood.

Based on the three well known personalities, three paths are prescribed.

  • Karma Yoga for the predominantly dynamic and physically oriented people
  • Bhakti for the emotionally oriented devotees
  • Jnana Yoga for the rationalists

The three paths are not independent of each other, rather they complement one another. Hence, for each of us sadhaks, Sadhana should include all the three paths.

Sadhana Mandira is a forum wherein Shastra Jnana is shared by Pujya Swami Hamsananda who is also well versed in simple day-to-day puja vidhi and a devotional singer blessed with a melodious voice. Thus Jnana and Bhakti with Seva as Karma Yoga come together here at Sadhana Mandira guiding seekers on the path to abiding in the Self.
